Art is power, and in poetry the precision of selected words and placement is more powerful than the forcing of any trending format of a particular time in history.
Having been raised by an artist, L. Meredith Chandler believes strongly in the freedom of individual expression and interpretation in all of the arts. She does not limit her writing to contemporary conventions but instead seeks full freedom of expression while hoping readers might find whatever meaning connects to their own experience in this unpredictable life.
Lee has four chapbooks in progress--they are below.
We are braver and wiser because they existed, those strong women and strong men… We are who we are because they were who they were. It’s wise to know where you come from, who called your name.
- Maya Angelou
Smooth seas do not make skillful sailors.”
- African Proverb
And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud
was more painful
than the risk it took to blossom.
- Anais Nin
Who knows what women can be
when they are finally free
to be themselves.
- Betty Friedan
